This week in the Boarding House…

Another week of fun for our boarding family…

This week, we decided that Josh T (Year 8) would be our Star Boarder. Josh has been an example and a role model to all our boarders, displaying a positive attitude, hard work, and motivation when revising for his Common Entrance exams and practicing for his forthcoming music exams. Josh is a busy young man but he never stops impressing boarding staff with his calm, patience, and kindness to others. Well done Josh!

Our boarders have had a very busy week this week.

On Monday, we had one of our popular karaoke evenings and I was pleased to see every single boarder take part.

On Wednesday evening, we were lucky that the weather was nice because it was the night we had organised for our boarders to go to Bull Meadow park. A variety of games were played and all the children were very happy.

Whilst all these things were happening, the Boarding House Council also met on Tuesday evening and a lot of ideas were shared by its members to the Housemaster. At ECS, we believe it is extremely important that children have a say in school life and it is also true for our boarders. We want them to share with us any ideas they may have to make their time with us even better.

Among the ideas that were discussed this week were the introduction of a cake rota and the organisation of “Boarders Sports Days” where dorms would compete against each other. Whilst some ideas will take some time to organise, the cake rota is already in place and Edward K (Year 6) is the first one on the list to bring us cake on Monday 24th May.

Our Ping Pong Tournament winner is Edward K (Year 6) who beat Ben T (Year 6) in the final. It was a very close game and the final score was 19 v 17. Well done boys and congratulations to our Ping Pong champion!

The three candidates going to the finals of BGT next Monday are:

Monday 24th May will be a big celebration of our boarders’ talents. Even though our three finalists will be performing to win the contest, many boarders have signed up to perform the number of their choice and entertain the audience. The show must go on!

I hope you have a good week,

Mr Baurance
