It was a week filled with competitive spirit as the winners of the Inter House Hockey and Rugby titles were closely contested. The Year 5 and 6 pupils gave their all and had very exciting competitions on Monday afternoon.
The wind and rain on Tuesday didn’t dampen our spirits, instead the Year 3 and 4 pupils got to experience the speed of indoor hockey whilst the boys worked on some rugby skills and played some fun invasion games.
Wednesday the senior pupils took to the playing fields and ran in a very muddy cross country event. All pupils did extremely well in representing their house, great determination and spirit!
The weather was not kind enough or us to go ahead with the Junior Cross Country on Thursday afternoon. Instead, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Isabella P-J, who appeared to be a bit of a celebrity when she walked through the school gates. Isabella spoke with the children about her achievements in sport throughout her time at ECS. Bella encouraged the pupils throughout the session and at the end we held a Q&A forum so the pupils could ask any burning questions they may have had. My favourite question was from a pupil in Year 4 ‘ When did you first realise your love for running.’ Bella told the pupils all about her first experience representing ECS at The Larkman Cup Cross Country Race and how that is where it all began.’
A huge thank you to Bella for giving up her time to come back to ECS and inspire all of the younger pupils who hope to achieve all she has. We wish Bella luck as she flies to Malaga with the UK Lions hockey team today for some warm weather training.
A fantastic way to end a very successful sporting term. Thank you to everyone involved,
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.
