Growing Hearts, Growing Minds: The Fruits of the Spirit Bloom at Exeter Cathedral School

How quickly time has passed since I paused to share thoughts with the wider ECS family.

The last fortnight, as always, has been a full one. The Wellbeing Centre has become a popular space (which is wonderful to see) and we have since added to it an opportunity to pause in the form of an interactive prayer space. Inspired by C.S Lewis’ ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ pupils are invited to think, question and pray using cutouts of footsteps and paper chain people to help focus and inspire their thoughts and reflections.

Assemblies have invited us to consider the gifts of the Spirit from Galatians 5. The Fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These virtues provide a solid foundation for our students to grow not only in their attitude toward study but also as individuals of integrity and compassion.

In Pre-Prep, we began to think more specifically about the gift of love and reflected together on the parable of the lost sheep, recognising that Jesus is concerned about us as individuals, leaving no one out. He loves us just as we are, wherever we are.

As you will see from the School Calendar, we have space to pause and pray on Wednesday mornings weekly. Monthly on Thursdays afternoons, you would be most welcome to join us.
