FECS Letter 8th June

Welcome back everyone, I hope you all had a good half term break.  It was lovely to see some of you at today’s coffee morning in Hall House. Aside from today’s event, the FECS team have been extremely busy as it’s only one week to go until our biggest event of the year. We have lots planned so we’re hoping the good weather will remain as it’s set to be a great day!

There will be a grand opening by the Lord Mayor at 10am on the day, followed by various entertainment all the way through to 4pm, including percussion, ballet, music from The Plough Boys and yoga on the Green. In addition to this there will be plenty of options to keep you well fed and watered with our always popular BBQ and tea tent, as well as cakes, candy floss, chocolate fountain and ice cream.  This year we will also have a prosecco, ale and strawberries tent to add to the offering.

The Cashbox and Vintage Car Club will be bringing along 21 cars for display, as well there will be a fun children’s activity tent and many other things to entertain the family.  This year we will also be holding our very own ‘Great ECS Bake Off’, in which children of all ages are encouraged to enter, with a prize for the winning cake in each of the three age group categories.

The pre-loved clothes stall will also be accepting school uniform this year, both non-branded (such as trousers, shorts, coats etc) and branded.  You may wish to either donate your clothes with all proceeds going to FECS or on a 50/50 basis.  If donating on a 50/50 basis please ensure that you clearly label all items with you name, class and price.  Any items not sold at the end of the day must be collected otherwise they will be donated to charity, with the exception of branded school uniform which will be passed onto the second hand uniform shop for sale according to the school shop’s terms.

Volunteers needed!

Thank you to all of you who have already volunteered, the online sign up schedule has proved to be very successful and the rota is already filling up nicely.  I know that stalls have been allocated to year groups throughout the school this year, however we still have other stalls to cover so if you can spare more than an hour then please sign up to help elsewhere too. Parents, grandparents and friends are all welcome to help.  You can sign up online using this link: http://signupschedule.com/fecs

Golden Tickets

Hopefully your children have enjoyed the summer fete mufti day today and started to bring in lots of goodies for next Saturday.  Golden tickets will be handed out to every child in the school on Friday 15th June as a thank you for all your support over the year with our events.  These will entitle them to the following on the day of the fete:

1 go on EITHER candy floss OR chocolate fountain

1 go on EITHER bouncy castle OR pole joust OR obstacle course

2 turns on any of the stalls in the children’s activity tent

Donations

We still need your help to prepare for the big day by:

  • Bringing in filled Jam Jars with lots of children’s goodies (as we did for the Christmas Fayre)
  • Sorting good quality clothes and school uniform, which you could sell on the pre-loved stall
  • Bringing in old books in good condition for the book stall and good quality toys for the toy stall
  • Bringing in soft toys for the teddy tombola
  • Donating tombola prizes
  • Bringing in plants for the plant sale
  • Bringing in cakes and biscuits for sale on the day (to be brought in on either Friday 15th June or on the day of the fete)
  • Spreading the word to all your family and friends about our exciting event! Please share our poster  below on social media or print one and display at your place of work or local shop/post office.

Finally, many thanks again for your support so far, by pulling together as friends of Exeter Cathedral School I’m sure we can make this yet another truly wonderful event!
