FECS Letter 7th June

We had another good turn out to the coffee morning in Hall House this morning. Aside from today’s event, the FECS team have been extremely busy as it’s only one week to go until our biggest event of the year…the FECS Summer Fete. We have lots planned so we’re hoping the good weather will remain as it’s set to be a great day!

There will be a grand opening by the Lord Mayor at 10am on the day, followed by various entertainment all the way through to 4pm, including percussion, ballet, music from The Plough Boys. In addition to this there will be plenty of options to keep you well fed and watered with our always popular BBQ and tea tent, as well as cakes, candy floss, chocolate fountain and ice cream.
The Cashbox and Vintage Car Club will be bringing along 21 cars for display, as well there will be a fun children’s activity tent and many other things to entertain the family.  This year we will also be holding our very own ‘Great ECS Bake Off’ again, in which children of all ages are encouraged to enter, with a prize for the winning cake in each of the three age group categories.

Volunteers needed!

Thank you to all of you who have already volunteered, the online sign up schedule has proved to be very successful and the rota is already filling up nicely.  I know that stalls have been allocated to year groups throughout the school this year, however we still have other stalls to cover so if you can spare more than an hour then please sign up to help elsewhere too. Parents, grandparents and pupils are all welcome to help.  You can sign up online using this link: http://signupschedule.com/fecs

Golden Tickets

Hopefully your children have enjoyed the summer fete mufti day today and started to bring in lots of goodies for next Saturday.  Golden tickets will be handed out to every child in the school on Friday 15th June as a thank you for all your support over the year with our events.  These will entitle them to the following on the day of the fete:

1 go on EITHER candy floss

1 go on ECS run bouncy castle

2 turns on any of the stalls in the children’s activity tent

Donations

We still need your help to prepare for the big day by:

  • Bringing in filled Jam Jars with lots of children’s goodies (as we did for the Christmas Fayre)
  • Bringing in  good quality toys for the toy stall and children’s books
  • Bringing in soft toys for the teddy tombola
  • Donating tombola prizes
  • Bringing in plants for the plant sale
  • Bringing in cakes and biscuits for sale on the day (to be brought in on either Friday 14th June or on the day of the fete)
  • Spreading the word to all your family and friends about our exciting event!  Please share our poster  below on social media or print one and display at your place of work or local shop/post office.

Finally, many thanks again for your support so far, by pulling together as friends of Exeter Cathedral School I’m sure we can make this yet another truly wonderful event!

Best wishes,
Cleofe (Chair) & The FECS team.
