FECS Letter 28th June

I think every would agree that this year’s fete was a huge success, with a wonderful turn out of visitors on the day despite taking the decision to move to The Chapter House. We’ve had lots of fabulous feedback about the change of venue despite the weather actually turning out quite so bad as was forecast. The profit made on the day was around £2,000 which is fantastic given we had to cut back on stalls and also cancel our outside craft stalls.  This is a fantastic amount and the day would not have been possible without all of your support.  Thank you to everybody who contributed their time leading up to the weekend, on the Friday sorting items, early Saturday morning setting up, running stalls during the event and clearing down.  Also to all of you who contributed stall donations, cakes and raffle prizes etc.  We’d also like to give a special mention also to all the staff who also helped turn this into a success.

On Wednesday our final general meeting of the academic year took place, during which we agreed to fund the following items:

  1. 2 laptops for the art department at Zoe’s request which will cost approximately £1500.
  2. 9 tents and 6 camp beds for the Year 8 camp at a cost of £2000.
  3. A rug for the Hall House library at a cost of approximately £100.
  4. A French performance delivered by Onatti Productions Ltd which will be delivered to all of year 3 through to year 8 pupils to the cost of £500.

During the meeting I also officially announced that I will be stepping down from my post as chair as of September, this is due to a change in work commitments and commencing a new study programme in September. I will however not be stepping away from FECS and will continue to be a committee member, doing what I can to support it as I believe it’s a truly wonderful cause that has helped to enrich the experience of all pupils & families at the school. Therefore we will be looking for a new chair and additional committee member posts for September, for which forms will shortly follow on the portal.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Best wishes,

Cleofe (Chair) & The FECS team.
