Our Year 3 pupils have been enjoying the many benefits of Forest School this year at The Outdoor Centre in Exmouth. This valuable experience is an ongoing part of our curriculum, designed to foster a deep connection with nature and develop essential life skills.
Through a range of engaging activities such as fire building, den making and learning about woodland creatures, our young learners have had the opportunity to build confidence, teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Forest School is a cornerstone of our commitment to providing a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom.
According to The Outdoors Group, a leading provider of Forest School programs, spending time in nature allows children to develop a sense of well-being, resilience and a connection to the natural world. These are all qualities that we value at Exeter Cathedral School, and we are delighted to offer this wonderful experience to our Year 3 pupils.
Additional benefits of Forest School include:
- Communication skills – Forest School sessions provide opportunities for children to develop their communication skills through group discussions and collaborative activities.
- Problem-solving skills – Children are encouraged to think creatively and solve problems as they arise in the natural environment.
- Risk-taking skills – Forest School allows children to take calculated risks in a safe and supportive environment, which can help them to develop confidence and resilience.
Exeter Cathedral School is committed to providing a holistic education that goes beyond the classroom. Forest School is a valuable part of our curriculum, and we believe that it plays an important role in helping our pupils to develop into well-rounded individuals.
