ECS pupils take part in the Poetry By Heart competition
Children in years 3 – 8 have been working really hard all term to learn at least one, and in the vast majority of cases, two poems off by heart for the school round of the Poetry by Heart competition – and what a fabulous job they made of it!
After class recitals, teachers selected several performers to be recorded in preparation for final judging last week. Year group winners in years 3 – 5 were as follows: Lettie Mirfin, Arabella Stokes and Kiah Nakata.
In year 7 there were three runners-up: Dominic Mirfin, Phoebe Gelis and Hope Higginson. Our KS2 winner was Ellenna Cox and our KS3 winner was Ellie May Ball – they will both go on to represent ECS in the next round of the competition. Watch out over the coming days as we share their performances with you. Well done to everyone for taking part and making the competition so much fun: what a fantastic way to end our Lent term at ECS!
We’ll be sharing some of the wonderful performances on our Social Media channels, so do make sure you’re following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
