This week, Mr Davies led an insightful assembly on the theme of migration, and how it benefits society.
We began by exploring Steve Jobs being a migrant’s son and the impact he went on to have, after which we looked at UK-specific examples of Mo Farah, Rita Ora and Michael Marks.
We also looked at things that may seem quintessentially British that were in fact invented/created by migrants, such as the fish and chip shop, Mini Cooper, parts of the London Underground.
We concluded by exploring the NHS and how 12% of the workforce (roughly 200,000 people) have migrated from other countries.
