Last Monday, Year 6 boy choristers, Johnny and Dominic, went with Mr. Parsons to three primary schools in the Teign Valley. This Saturday, children in Years 4 to 6 from these schools and three others will be doing a joint concert with the Cathedral Boys’ Choir and Devon County Junior Choir, and Johnny and Dominic were there to help the children learn the songs for the concert. They also taught them some Cathedral Choir warm-ups, including sirening and holding on notes for as long as possible (while still maintaining a nice tone), and sang the Pie Jesu from the Faure Requiem.
Johnny particularly enjoyed travelling to the schools, and Dominic enjoyed watching the reaction on the children’s faces when they heard them sing. Both really enjoyed the experience, which is certainly a really important and valuable part of helping the choir’s visibility around Devon.
