Animals in the Boarding House!

Thursday night was our busiest night of this academic year with a total of 17 boarders booked in. What a pleasure to see most of the members of the boarding family together to enjoy fun activities and social time. We also welcomed a new boarder this week, Dom, who enjoyed his first night so much last week that he went home “begging” his parents to let him board again. Welcome to the family, Dom. We also welcomed back Hugo (Year 8) and it was lovely to see him and spend quality time with him again.

Thursday was also the occasion for all of us to celebrate Ms Baxendale’s birthday with some beautiful singing and another one of Jo’s delicious chocolate cakes. Happy birthday Ms Baxendale, and thank you, Jo!

Still on the same evening, Mark, one of the chefs who works hard each day in the kitchens, was kind enough to give up some of his free time to organise a very special evening for our boarders. What we did not know a few weeks ago is that Mark and his family own a lot of fascinating animals and they offered to bring some of them to school for the boarders to see and learn about. We all learned interesting facts about these animals and even got to feed some of them. Personally, my favourite one was Timmy the chameleon. What a brilliant evening. Thank you Mark and his lovely family.

With so many boarders this week, the task of choosing one Star Boarder proved almost impossible. That is why, for the first time, we have three Star Boarders this week. For being very well behaved, for looking after each other, for showing kindness and positive attitude, and hard work, our Star Boarders this week are Elliot, Ellie May, and Gabriel. Well done all three of you.

Next week is the last week before half term and it is a short week. ECS pupils will be going home on Thursday after school. We will make sure they pack everything they need, and the boarding house will be open at the end of the day for them to collect their belongings.

Have a wonderful weekend,
