On Friday 28th February, Year 2 got the chance to find out what life would have been like on board a real pirate ship, by spending the morning exploring the Golden Hind in Brixham.
Captain Mary welcomed us on deck and told us all about Sir Francis Drake. It was there that we learnt that boys as young as seven would have been part of the 71 crew on Drake’s adventure around the world, something which appealed to a couple of children! We did a stamp hunt around the ship, learning about the treasure they stole, how they survived on board, where they cooked and slept and we even got to walk the gang plank!
