We believe it is important that the pupils play an active part in the day-to-day running of the school – as they know how things work best for them!
We have a variety of groups for pupils to become involved with, as well as offering leadership opportunities for our senior pupils:
- School Council
- ECO Committee
- Food Committee
- Pupil Leadership Team
School Council
14 representatives are elected by their year group peers to represent their year group from Year 2 – 8. Pupils have the opportunity to discuss the issues that concern them during dedicated Form Sessions. The School Council meets twice a term to discuss the issues that have been raised, including: the house points system, the playground, uniform and charity fundraising. The School Council is coordinated by the Senior Deputy Head (Pupils), Mrs Emma Ross but lead by the Heads of Pupil Voice, two senior pupils. The Senior Leadership Team also receives regular updates.
Eco Committee
14 representatives are elected by their year group peers to represent their year group from Year 2 – 8. The ECO Committee meets twice a term to discuss issues that have been raised including: recycling, planting trees and the removal of ketchup sachets in the Dining Room! The Food Committee is coordinated by Miss Polly Salter and is attended by the Director of Operations & Finance, Mrs Steven Webber. The Senior Deputy Head (Pupils), Mrs Emma Ross also receives regular updates.
Food Committee

Pupil Leadership Team
At the end of Year 7 pupils are invited to apply for leadership positions in their final year at Exeter Cathedral School. These include Heads of School and prefects. The Pupil Leadership Team meet monthly with the Headmaster and/or Senior Deputy Head. They have the opportunity to discuss issues of concern and offer feedback on the School routine. They also have duties to undertake including responsibility for managing Assemblies, supporting staff on duty on the playground at lunch times as well as playing lead roles at our Open Events, Carol Service, Charity Concert and Speech Day with guests and parents.
