What a week! Whoever thought we would be running an ECS Virtual Sports Day… I can’t quite believe it, but we did it and it was amazing. Thank you to everyone!
I have received some fantastic videos and photos from pupils and parents, showing their efforts of decoration in the garden, wearing their ECS sports kit, involving other families too, and witnessing the sheer happiness it brought. The children on site were wearing their medals with pride and I was very impressed with the creativity of the teachers in making it a wonderful experience for the pupils. The Year 6 pupils were very competitive; they painted their faces and made posters and banners for their Houses. I also witnessed some very creative obstacle courses and very funny alternatives to the egg and spoon race.
I will be putting together an ECS Sports Day Video for you all to enjoy but will hold off until next week because I know some families have been saving their sports day for the weekend when parents do not have work commitments.
Apart from Sports Day, the Physical wellbeing highlight of my week has been the dancing…….Funky Friday has proved to be a big hit and I am definitely considering a dance module in the PE Scheme of Learning next year. Dancing with Pre Prep Live on Friday morning made me a little emotional. We were dancing to ‘We’re all in this together’, one of my favourite songs from High School Musical. How apt is it, in this whirlwind of the pandemic, to realise that all of us at ECS are in this together and we will get through it stronger.
Thank you for your ongoing support with sport over the year; my department and I are so lucky to teach such enthusiastic pupils who love being active.
Have a wonderful weekend and, when it arrives, a wonderful summer break too.
Best wishes,
