Pre-Prep (ages 4 to 7)
Our Pre-Prep is housed in a 14th-century former Canonry in the Cathedral Close, nestled safely between the ancient city wall and the Bishop’s garden. It is here where Nursery to Year 2 carry out their daily learning. Our dedicated and highly qualified staff, led by our Head of Pre-Prep, work with the children and families to build independence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning.
As you step behind the old city wall into Hall House you will see children happily engaged in challenging and exciting learning activities. Our children are learning together in a rich and stimulating environment, and they take care of one another.
You will see children who are learning through playing and exploring, children who are active in their learning and children who are encouraged to be curious: to be problem solvers, who show resilience and perseverance in face of a challenge, children who have a genuine love of learning and who are both inspired and inspiring!
Outdoor space
For a school located at the heart of the city we are fortunate to have a beautiful and varied outdoor area in which children can play and explore.
Our front playground has a rubber-crumb surface and is ideal for running, jumping, scooting and biking, and our woodland garden, situated behind the Nursery, is a wonderful space with lots of resources to develop collaboration, creativity and imagination.
The terraced garden is used for a variety of learning opportunities: searching for the lost dinosaurs, bug hunts and plant identification activities, art and creative pursuits, to name but a few.
Outdoor space is crucial to a child’s development, and we are keen that our pupils have as much access to the outdoors as possible.
