This week in the Boarding House…

Just like all the previous weeks, the last week of this half term has gone in a jiffy.

As they say, “time flies when you are having fun”, and whilst it was a tough week for our boarders because most had exams or are preparing for them, there has still been plenty of time left for fun activities.

On Monday, for instance, took place the finals of BGT in Kalendar Hall. It was a wonderful show thanks to our talented pupils, the help of William F (Year 4) and Georgie F (Year 2) with the lights and smoke machine – well done you two and thank you – but also thanks to our wonderful members of staff who gave away their free time to help organise this event. Thank you Mr Featherstone, Mrs Featherstone, Mr Roberts, Ms Baxendale, Miss Smith, Miss Pyman and Mr Swain. Thank you all.

Though we had three finalists on stage, other boarders were also very keen to perform for the audience and the judges were blown away by such a variety of talents. The winner of 2021 BGT is Toby C (Year 8) who played a tricky piece on the flute beautifully. Margot CM (Year 6) and Phoebe G (Year 7) came joined second. Congratulations to the three of you. Judges were also asked to choose the best performer of the evening and the winners were Ellie May B (Year 7) and Ellenna C (Year 6) who received the same number of votes. Well done you two.

On Wednesday evening, thanks to our catering team, our boarders were able to enjoy delicious pizza in the sun on the playground. It was absolutely fantastic to see all of them so happy and being able to play outside after a couple of weeks of very poor weather.

Our Star Boarders this week are Ellie May B and Phoebe G (Year 7). It was quite a special week for these two because they don’t usually board all week, but this week they did. Even though it was exam week, they both remained focused and made sure they could revise for all their subjects. Both Phoebe and Ellie May bring a huge amount of joy and happiness to the Boarding House and it was a real pleasure to have them with us all week. Well done girls.

Have a wonderful half term everyone and good luck to our Year 8s who are going to spend some of their holidays revising for their Common Entrance exams. Stay safe!
